Rolex Explorer I 1970
The Rolex Explorer is one of the most well known, well respected, and well loved models Rolex manufactures. While it is hotly debated what watch was worn to summit Mt. Everest, or which watch accompanied several of the mid 19th Century Expeditions to the South Pole, the Explorer has always been one of the first to be mentioned. Designed as an ultra legible, utility-based, and durable wrist watch, the Explorer operates as one of the best everyday timepieces one can have.
Our model, pictured above, is a 1970 production year piece. The condition is outstanding, with the dial remaining original, and the case having minimal refinishing to the high polished bevels. The luminous markers are painted, and show the correct patina for the age of the watch. Service records are included with the timepiece; the buyer can be assured that all work completed was done so by Rolex technicians. The movement is a time-only, in-house Rolex 1560 automatic calibre.
