French Glazed Pottery Mantle Clock (mc 099)

They don’t come more unusual that this. The movement is a typical round French 8 day bell strike on the hour and half hour with a balance wheel escapement. The case is what sets this piece apart from others. In a Japonaiserie style, the cobalt blue/turquoise glazed case, measuring 12” tall, is simply stunning. The condition is excellent too. There are a couple of very minor edge flakes to the l flower petals, and there is a small fitting, likely a gilded cap to the ball below the left lion that is missing. Otherwise, the clock is complete and in good order. A highly unusual stylized piece from the 1890’s
